Our New Product Introduction (NPI) Process

A structured process that ensures every cable assembly and wire harness is built right the first time - and every time after that.

1

Drawing & BOM Review

We review your wiring diagrams, layout drawings, connector specs, and BOM for completeness before quoting.

2

First Article Build

A first-article sample is built and inspected against your drawing to confirm all requirements are met before production.

3

Production Assembly

Full production run assembled with calibrated tooling and trained technicians following the approved process.

4

Test, Label & Ship

100% electrical test, visual inspection, labeling, and shipment to your schedule.

Continuity & Functional Testing on Every Assembly

Every completed cable assembly and wire harness undergoes full electrical verification before leaving our facility. We test for continuity across every conductor, check for shorts, confirm correct pinout against your wiring diagram, and perform pull-force testing on all crimp terminations. Visual inspection follows IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards.

  • 100% continuity and short-circuit testing on all assemblies
  • Pinout verification against wiring diagram or schematic
  • Pull-force testing on all crimp terminations
  • Visual inspection per IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards
  • Test records and traceability documentation on request

Cable Assemblies & Wire Harnesses: What's the Difference?

A cable assembly is a group of wires or cables bound together in a protective sleeve, terminated with connectors at one or both ends, and built to a specific length and configuration. A wire harness goes a step further - it is engineered to match the physical routing path inside a product, with branches positioned precisely where connections are needed throughout a three-dimensional space.

Both are critical interconnect components in electronic products. Poor-quality terminations are one of the leading causes of field failures - which is why correct tooling, trained technicians, and thorough electrical testing are non-negotiable at Maxtech.
